Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) has chosen Orange County’s Family Assistance Ministries as the 2021 Nonprofit of the Year for the 36th Senate District. This recognition was part of a larger virtual celebration of CalNonprofits’ “California Nonprofits Day” held yesterday.
“Family Assistance Ministries is a lifeline for many Orange County families in need, especially over the past year,” said Senator Bates, a former social worker. “I thank the staff, volunteers, and donors of Family Assistance Ministries for their efforts to help as many people as possible. They exemplify the best of the nonprofit world.”
Established in 1999, Family Assistance Ministries is a faith-based non-profit organization assisting those in need in Orange County with resources for food, shelter, and personalized supportive counsel and aid, helping clients bridge the gap from dependency to self-sufficiency. It is based in San Clemente and has satellite centers in San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, and Dana Point.
The first California Nonprofits Day was held on June 22, 2016. CalNonprofits is a statewide membership organization that brings California’s nonprofit community together by working with the Legislature, government agencies, philanthropy, and the public to advocate for the communities served throughout the state.
