Senator Bates Calls for Full Funding of Water Projects amidst Massive State Budget Surplus

Monday, December 20, 2021

LAGUNA NIGUEL – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) joined Senate Republicans in calling for Governor Newsom to fully fund desperately needed water infrastructure projects amidst a projected $31 billion surplus. California is in the midst of another dry winter, with an untold number of drought years ahead. Senator Bates stated the following:

“Now more than ever, Governor Newsom should heavily invest in new water storage projects that can guarantee enough water for all Californians. No more excuses.  Now is the time to get projects completed.”

“I firmly believe an investment in water infrastructure is an appropriate way to use the state’s current operating surplus. With this additional revenue there is no excuse for why we can’t get new projects built and existing water storage network repaired.”
