Senator Bates offers amendments to Senate Joint Resolution 4 (Lara) that would require any action to replace Father Junipero Serra’s statue with one of Sally Ride be done with private funds and that his statue be relocated to Mission San Juan Capistrano. The Senate’s majority party rejected the amendments.
