Sen. Bates’ Statement on Rejected Effort to Make Insulin Affordable for Millions of Californians

Thursday, August 11, 2022

SACRAMENTO – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) issued the following statement on the outcome of today’s Assembly Suspense File hearing relative to her effort to make insulin affordable:
“I am disappointed SB 473, my bill to cap the out-of-pocket cost for insulin to $35 a month, was held in the Assembly Committee on Appropriations. The decision by Assembly Democratic leadership to hold the bill blocked meaningful relief for millions of California residents struggling to pay for the rising cost of insulin. This was a missed opportunity for the California State Legislature to accomplish what Washington D.C. failed to do.”
