“Social media helps us stay connected to our friends, family, and colleagues. Online safety is an
ongoing conversation among all of us to help minimize the use of social media for harmful
purposes. That is why I have teamed up with Facebook, Carlsbad Unified School District, law
enforcement, and other leaders to create this event.” -Senator Pat Bates

parents to be active participants while empowering them with the tools to stay safe online.
