Senator Patricia Bates Compiles Perfect CalChamber Vote Record

Monday, October 24, 2016

Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) today announced that she compiled a perfect score from the California Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber) in its 2016 Vote Record. CalChamber is a non-profit organization representing more than 14,000 companies of all sizes.

“As a small business owner, I know firsthand the challenges of operating a business and that’s why I’m pleased to have earned a perfect score from CalChamber this year,” said Bates. “CalChamber’s vote record provides Californians a key measuring stick to judge their legislators on how they vote on bills related to jobs. I hope entrepreneurs will find it useful in evaluating who is best committed to improving California’s business climate.”

On CalChamber’s vote record, Bates opposed bills that will impose additional environmental mandates without considering economic costs (SB 32) and make it more difficult to create additional entry-level jobs (SB 3). She also supported bills that will discourage workers’ compensation fraud (AB 1244) and would have improved school accountability to prepare students for the workforce (AB 2548).

In addition to her perfect CalChamber record this year, Bates received perfect scores from the California Taxpayers Association, National Federation of Independent Business and California Manufacturers & Technology Association. She also earned an “A” grade from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association for her record on fiscal responsibility.
