Senate Republican Leader Bates Urges Bicameral, Bipartisan Review of Capitol Sexual Harassment

Wednesday, December 13, 2017

On behalf of members of the California State Senate Republican Caucus, Senate Republican Leader Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) recently sent a letter to California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) and California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) calling on both houses to work together to tackle the problem of sexual harassment at the California Legislature.

In the letter, California State Senate Republicans request that victims, witnesses, and whistleblowers of sexual harassment be released from any non-disclosure agreements so they can share their stories should they choose to do so. In addition, Senate Republicans request that the Joint Rules Committee be convened to initiate a bipartisan and bicameral effort to improve policies and procedures related to sexual harassment.
